Strickland wants to create new cabinet-level position - to manage veterans' benefits.
By Jo Ingles - May 30, 2007
Ohio Governor Ted Strickland wants to create a department of Veterans Affairs for the Buckeye State. He says he'll work with lawmakers to get legislation in place that would accomplish that goal. Strickland says Ohio has more veterans than most other states yet ranks 45th in the amount of federal dollars those veterans receive.

In the meantime, Strickland has assembled a group of twenty-two veterans from different areas of service to look at ways Ohio's veterans could be served better through existing federal programs.
