AG's office blasts energy drinks that contain alcohol, asks feds to investigate.
By Jo Ingles - August 20, 2007
Walk in to the corner convenience store and you are likely to find energy drinks that contain alcohol. Ohio's Attorney General has questions about these beverages which are marketed to young people. Ohio is joining attorneys general in 29 other states in asking a federal agency that oversees marketing of these products to take a closer look. Chris Geidner with the Ohio Attorney General's office says the states are asking the federal agency to do two things.

Weidner says if the formulation of alcohol in these energy drinks is too high, they can't be sold in convenience stores. Weidner says the products are often marketed as stimulants to young people but he says the packaging does not explain the negative side effects often associated with these drinks.
