Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Roads were deadlier this Labor Day weekend than they were last year.
By Jo Ingles - September 4, 2007
The Ohio Highway Patrol reports this past weekend was the deadliest in the Buckeye State since 2002. Sgt. Toby Smith of the Ohio Highway Patrol says there was an increase in the number of arrests of drivers believed to be impaired by substances.

Troopers also arrested 734 people for operating vehicles while under the influence....that's about thirty more people than were arrested last Labor Day Holiday. Smith says 24 people were killed in crashes on Ohio's roads from Friday to Monday. He says last year, 14 were killed during that same period.
