Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Thousands of small flags flutter on Statehouse lawn, honoring lives lost six years ago.
By Karen Kasler - September 11, 2007
Mourners who came to the Statehouse today to honor Congressman Paul Gillmor also saw a silent but moving memorial to those lost on September 11, 2007. John Poole is the communications director for the Ohio Community Service Council, which set up thousands of small flags on the Statehouse lawn this morning. He talked with Ohio Public Radio's Karen Kasler about the display.

Some 50 volunteers spent three hours planting the flags into the Statehouse lawn, and Poole says he was impressed by the number of people passing by who joined in to help.
