Ohio's auditor is urging state lawmakers to pass proposed legislation that would create a new system for internal auditing. Earlier this year, Gov. Ted Strickland put an executive order in place that he says will make the public more accountable and would prevent theft. But Auditor Mary Taylor says that doesn't go far enough.
A spokesman for Strickland says the executive order contains many of the elements that are in the proposed legislation. Keith Dailey says Strickland is still in the process of reviewing the bill.
Dailey says the governor looks forward to talking to the auditor in the future about her ideas for improving the internal auditing process in state government. |
