Ohio has collected a record high amount of old debt in 2007. Attorney General Marc Dann says more than $329 nine million was collected in debts from overdue taxes, fines, fees, and student loans. He says that total breaks last year's record amount of three hundred and twenty five million dollars. Dann says he's made several changes to make it easier for the state to collect money on old debts.
While the state has collected a record amount of debt this past year, there is still a lot of money that is owed to the state. Officials estimate about seven billion dollars in old debt is owed to the state today. |
