Ohio legislators are wrapping up work on a measure that increases the punishment for criminals convicted of human trafficking. The proposal makes it a first degree felony for people who force others into prostitution and peddle them around the country as sex slaves. State senator Teresa Fedor says more than half of the victims are children.
The crackdown on human trafficking has been added as an amendment to an unrelated bill, dealing with abortion. It would require all abortion clinics to display signs which read -- "no one can force you to have an abortion." |
