Advocates for the poor, the elderly, the mentally ill, and abused children are continuing to push Ohio legislators to raise taxes, so that social welfare programs won't have to be cut so much during the latest budget crunch. The activists think they have some backing for the plan, in the form of a new public opinion poll. But, as statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports, the advocates are still having a tough time selling their views to legislators. |
