The 529 plan that Ohioans can use to save for college is getting high marks from an organization that rates investments. Morningstar says Ohio's College Advantage 529 Savings plan is performing better than similar plans in most of the other states. That doesn't come as a surprise to Jackie Williams, the director of the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, the agency that oversees the investment product. |

In a 529 plan, parents can put after tax dollars into a mutual fund account operated by the state. The money deposited and all of the earnings on it can be withdrawn tax free at a later date as long as those dollars are used for a higher education. |
