A bill to change and update some voter-related laws has been on the back burner while lawmakers deal with the budget. But hearings are set to start soon on the bill, which would streamline voter ID requirements, put in place a statewide voter registration database and would allow special elections to be held on general election days and replacement elections to be done by mail. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner says the bill was created with a lot of bipartisan input. |

| Brunner says she's hoping the bill will be passed in the next few weeks, especially since lawmakers may be here throughout the summer if the budget isn't approved by June 30 and interim budgets are needed. |
