New program seeks to reward college grads who make Ohio their home for at least five years.
By Jo Ingles - October 19, 2009
A new program designed to help keep Ohio's college graduates in Ohio goes into effect today. The new Grants for Grads program provides graduates help with a down payment on a home in Ohio. Doug Garver of the Ohio Housing Finance Agency says Ohioans who graduate with bachelors, masters, or doctorates from accredited Ohio colleges are eligible.
Doug Garver (:15)
Garver says graduates who are interested in the financing should ask their realtors about it. He says he doesn't know how many Ohio graduates will take advantage of the deal. The guidelines for Grants for Grads are only slightly more attractive than the agency's current program to assist first time homebuyers. But Ohio's leaders hope it will be enough to help stop the brain drain from Ohio.
