Ohio University announces big budget shortfall, must cut back major programs.
By Fred Kight - February 16, 2010
Almost $14 million...that's the amount that needs to be cut from Ohio University's $352 million budget for the next fiscal year. The target was announced yesterday by O-U Provost and Executive Vice President Pam Benoit, who released a 15 page Draft Budget Recommendations report.

Benoit's office takes the biggest hit in the report -- a proposed reduction of nearly 9%. Cuts in the 7%percent range are proposed for the President's Office, Intercollegiate Athletics and Graduate College, International Studies, Campus Recreation and W-O-U-B. Now that the report is out, the next step in the budget process is to get feedback from faculty, staff and students. Four forums are planned, starting a week from today.
