Democratic lawmakers want candidates for office to reveal more about their personal wealth.

Some Democratic state lawmakers plan to introduce a bill that would require candidates running for statewide office to either disclose their tax returns or sign a legal form detailing their sources and amounts of income. Rep. Bob Hagan says requiring this information will help insure future government leaders are not engaging in corrupt activities.

In recent weeks, Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland has chided Republican Gubernatorial candidate John Kasich for failing to make his tax returns public. Strickland and other Democrats say they want to know more about Kasich's ties with Lehman Brothers, the Wall Street firm that went bankrupt in 2008. Kasich has made available to reporters the financial information that is currently required by law but Democrats say it didn't provide enough information to answer their questions.
