The election of 2010 is nearly over....at the Ohio Historical Society. Voting for the candidate whose image will be made into a statue for Statuary Hall in the Capitol building in Washington DC will close on Saturday. There are 10 candidates - from inventors Thomas Edison and the Wright Brothers to anti-slavery crusader Harriet Beecher Stowe to astronaut Judith Resnick to US President and Civil War general Ulysses S. Grant. Kim Schutte at the Ohio Historical Society says it's generated a lot of interest.
Ohioans of all ages can cast ballots, but the Historical Society asks that each person vote only once. The results aren't binding, but will be taken into account by the task force that will make a recommendation to lawmakers sometime this summer. Information on each of the 10 candidates and ballots are available at www.legacyforohio.org. |
