Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Chairs of Ohio's major parties both say Obama visit to Ohio is a good thing.
By Karen Kasler - August 17, 2010
President Obama is scheduled to be in Columbus tomorrow. Obama won Ohio by four points in 2008, but his approval ratings have been falling. So there have been questions raised about whether Obama's visit is a good thing or a bad thing for both Democrats and Republicans. Ohio Public Radio's Karen Kasler asked that question to the leaders of Ohio's two major political parties, Democratic Party chair Chris Redfern and Republican Party chair Kevin DeWine.

The president will headline fundraising events for the Ohio Democratic Party and Gov. Ted Strickland. For more politics with Chairmen DeWine and Redfern, tune in to "The State of Ohio" on PBS stations statewide this weekend.
