A federal court trial has opened in Chicago today, and some of those involved say the final verdict could determine whether Lake Erie and the other great lakes live or die. Five Great Lakes states, including Ohio, are suing the feds, charging they haven't done enough to stop a possible invasion of Lake Michigan by a voracious species of fish --- the Asian carp. State officials fear the carp could multiply so quickly, they'd crowd out all the other fish in all the great lakes. But not everyone agrees with that scenario. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen has both sides of the story. |
