New governor John Kasich hasn’t even proposed his version of Ohio’s new two-year state budget, but already, advocates for government programs and labor unions are protesting. They worry that, since Kasich has vowed to plug a projected $8 billion money hole without raising taxes, spending cuts will have to be gigantic and they will be a disaster for programs that help seniors, children, the sick, the poor, and state employees. From our statehouse news bureau, correspondent Bill Cohen files this report. |
