Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Democrats call for conservative Republican accused of drunk driving to resign.
By Jo Ingles - July 13, 2011
The head of Ohio’s Democratic Party says Republican State Representative Bob Mecklenborg should resign from his seat in the legislature. Chris Redfern says Mecklenborg endangered lives back in April when he was stopped by law enforcement in Indiana and subsequently arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence. Redfern is also calling on House Speaker Bill Batchelder to remove Mecklenborg from his seat on the House Ethics Committee. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles caught up with Speaker Batchelder after house session to talk about Mecklenborg’s situation.

Mecklenborg did not attend house session earlier today. Mecklenborg faces a court date for the OVI charge later this month.
