Ohio school districts and boards of education are lobbying against a bill that would expand Ohio’s school voucher program from urban areas to the entire state. The bill would deduct about $5,800 dollars from a school district’s state aid for each student who gets a voucher for tuition at a private school. State Representative Matt Huffman is the bill’s sponsor. He says he’s not surprised by the objections. School districts opposing the voucher expansion include Akron and Mentor. The Catholic Conference of Ohio also has reservations about the expansion. |
