After a slight dip last year, the number of people killed on Ohio roads this New Year’s holiday weekend went back up again. Lt. Anne Ralston with the Ohio Highway Patrol says troopers have been counting the deaths from crashes that happened December 30 through midnight Monday night.
But while the New Year’s weekend was deadlier than the one last year, overall 2011 was a better year on the roads. There were 970 confirmed traffic deaths last year, compared to 1,080 traffic fatalities in 2010 and 1,022 in 2009. |
