Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

This past weekend was a deadly one on Ohio roads, but 2011 wasn’t too bad overall.
By Karen Kasler - January 3, 2012
After a slight dip last year, the number of people killed on Ohio roads this New Year’s holiday weekend went back up again. Lt. Anne Ralston with the Ohio Highway Patrol says troopers have been counting the deaths from crashes that happened December 30 through midnight Monday night.

But while the New Year’s weekend was deadlier than the one last year, overall 2011 was a better year on the roads. There were 970 confirmed traffic deaths last year, compared to 1,080 traffic fatalities in 2010 and 1,022 in 2009.
