By Jo Ingles - January 3, 2012
In the wake of a deadly Christmas Eve fire in his district, one state lawmaker is calling for legislation to crack down on slum lords. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles, Democratic State Rep. Mike Stinziano of Columbus explains he’s going to put forth a bill that would change existing laws to make housing safer.

Stinziano says his legislation has not yet been drafted but he says some ideas worth exploring include increasing penalties for homeowners and possibly requiring those who violate vacate orders to forfeit the property to the city.
