February 20 will be a new holiday in Ohio. Gov. John Kasich has signed legislation that designates that day as John Glenn Friendship 7 day in the Buckeye State. Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit the Earth, says he’s honored but he hopes the day will do more than honor him.
February 20 will mark the 50th anniversary of Glenn’s historic flight. Glenn is not only an accomplished astronaut. He served 24 years as a Democratic U.S. Senator representing Ohio. |
