Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": The budget is on its way to a committee that will hammer out the differences before the end of the month deadline. But there are serious issues on both sides that could slow down the talks. A billion dollars is headed back to Ohio employers who paid into the state’s Bureau of Workers' Comp program. But a critic says the BWC has an outstanding bill that remains unpaid. And more on how Ohio's poorest people are surviving the rising costs of a basic existence.

Bill erasing discrimination of pit bulls as "vicious animals" passes the Ohio Senate.
By Jo Ingles - January 31, 2012
Ohio dog owners who have pit bulls could be breathing a sigh of relief soon. Currently, under Ohio law, pit bull owners in Ohio need to purchase special insurance on their dogs. But the Ohio Senate has approved a house passed bill that changes that. Republican Sen. Mark Wagoner says under this plan, breed specific language will be eliminated.

The bill passed by a large bipartisan margin. It now goes to Gov. John Kasich for his approval.

Sen. Mark Wagoner (R-Toledo) (:31)
