Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Senate votes overwhelmingly to offer grants to businesses that move into vacant space.
By Bill Cohen - March 28, 2012
A proposal to give government grants to Ohio companies that expand into vacant factories and employ more workers will soon be sent to governor John Kasich to be signed into law. The state senate today okayed the proposal, approved earlier by the House. State senator Tim Schaffer predicted the financial incentive would help create more jobs.

The Senate vote was unanimous - marked a rare example of statehouse Republicans and Democrats agreeing on an economic-development measure.

Sen. Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) (:15)
