This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.
 

Ohio again leads the nation in “Tree City USA” communities.

Ohio is once again the leading state in the nation, at least when it comes to one measure of what you might call “green action.” Ohio has the most local communities that have earned the honor of being declared a “Tree City USA” community. For more details, Ohio Public Radio’s Bill Cohen contacted Wendy Van Buren. She’s a regional urban forester for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Last year, Ohio cities, towns, and townships planted more than 28,000 trees on public land as part of the project.
