Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": The Senate version of the budget is on its way, with just a few weeks remaining to hammer out differences with the House. Lawmakers try to clarify the state auditor's role with JobsOhio. And we revisit and update two controversial issues from the last year - the abortion debate in Ohio and the state's new exotic animals law and the facility it created.

Governor pleased with passage of his budget update, but is concerned about one issue.
By Bill Cohen - April 26, 2012
It doesn’t happen often, but Gov. John Kasich is frustrated at his fellow Republicans in the legislature. For two reasons: First, GOP state representatives have voted for $30 million extra for nursing homes. And second, the Republican lawmakers are leaving the door open to spending part of a growing budget surplus on schools and cities later this year. The governor begins his critique with a laugh.

If the final version of a budget adjustment bill that legislators are working on has new spending the governor opposes, Kasich has the power to block it with a veto.
