House okays letting state universities give student trustees a vote.
By Bill Cohen - May 22, 2012
Some students on state university boards of trustees may soon get the right to vote on those boards. The Ohio House of Representatives has just approved the idea of letting each school decide whether it wants to grant voting power. Columbus Democrat Mike Stinziano is happy with the move, even though it doesn’t go as far as he wants. Here he is, in an interview with Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen.

Some schools have expressed an interest in giving student trustees voting power. Others have not. The House has just okayed the proposal on a vote of 77-19, with no one voicing opposition on the House floor. Next, state Senators take up the idea.
