Millions of dollars have poured into the state treasury, thanks to an Ohio tax amnesty program that’s now in progress. Ohioans who owe sales, income, and other taxes are being offered a break, if they come clean now and pay up. Tax officials have estimated they will eventually take in about $36 million, once the revenue from the six-week-long amnesty program is processed. They say more than a third of the cash has already come in. Joe Testa is Ohio’s tax commissioner. He says this is the first tax amnesty in six years - and he gives this update to statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen. |
