Low-income Ohioans receiving food stamps have been given some extra government help because of the windstorm that cut power to nearly a million households and businesses. Ben Johnson is with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. He says in the hardest hit counties, food stamp recipients have been given extra stamps whether or not they had to throw out food from unplugged refrigerators and freezers.
Johnson says extra cash assistance is also being handed out to help compensate low-income Ohioans for storm damage to their houses and cars. |
