Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Low-income Ohioans who lost food in violent storms two weeks ago could get extra help.
By Bill Cohen - July 12, 2012
Low-income Ohioans receiving food stamps have been given some extra government help because of the windstorm that cut power to nearly a million households and businesses. Ben Johnson is with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. He says in the hardest hit counties, food stamp recipients have been given extra stamps whether or not they had to throw out food from unplugged refrigerators and freezers.

Johnson says extra cash assistance is also being handed out to help compensate low-income Ohioans for storm damage to their houses and cars.
