Ohioans who try to pass bad checks for a living may soon see harsher punishment. State legislators are holding committee hearings on a crackdown proposal. State Representative Tom Raga is the sponsor of the measure. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen asked him to assess the scope of the problem. Raga says all Ohioans suffer when a few criminals print counterfeit checks and get them cashed. Thats because stores try to make up for their losses by raising their prices. |
