Last year, Ohio raised its cigarette tax by 31 cents a pack. Now, to help plug still another hole in the state budget, Governor Taft is proposing an additional 45 cent tax on each pack. As expected, health groups are applauding the idea, but the tobacco industry is fuming. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen has both sides of the story. |
