As most baseball fans know, opening day for the major leagues is less than a month away. Teams from coast to coast have migrated to Florida and Arizona, hoping the warm air and sunny skies will produce strong arms and quick bats. Meanwhile, in Eastlake, Ohio, another professional baseball team is getting ready for opening day. The Lake County Captains, Cleveland's single-A minor league team, will host its home opener April 10th. The Captains, formerly known as the Columbus Red Stixx, will play in a brand new stadium. Lake County hopes the facility will lure thousands of baseball fans needing another dose of America's past-time. WCPN correspondent Chris Butler spent some time in Lake County getting to know the team, and filed this report. |
