Meningitis Scare Not Hurting Economy Yet.
June 7, 2001

The Alliance area is home to Mount Union College and some other tourist attractions. At least one of them has suffered from the news of the outbreak. However, Pyers says no events have been cancelled over fears of spreading the sickness.

Pyers says local shoppers don't seem too concerned about getting sick. And out of town calls have slowed down since word of the outbreak made news. She credits their educational campaign for only minor damage to area businesses.
