FirstEnergy Corporation says it's reviewing changes made by state regulators to its rate stabilization plan before deciding on the next step. Company spokesperson Ellen Raines says the state's decision June 9 to hold an auction for cheaper power did not come as a surprise. But she says while competitors could underbid FirstEnergy, there's also a good chance prices could be higher. In that case, the PUCO intends to adopt FirstEnergy's rate stabilization plan, but with some modifications. Raines says its those changes the company is now reviewing. FirstEnergy could reject the changes or ask the state for additional modifications. Raines says a decision will be made by the June 15 board meeting. |
