Watchdog group says the public is being left out of public hearing on election.
By Karen Kasler - February 21, 2005
A government watchdog group wants more testimony from Ohioans at a hearing planned by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission at Ohio State University on Wednesday. Catherine Turcer of Ohio Citizen Action says she understands how difficult and lengthy a hearing including public testimony can be, but the commission needs to hear from voters themselves. Among those scheduled to testify at the hearing on Wednesday are Secretary of State Ken Blackwell and Cuyahoga County Board of Elections chair Michael Vu. The US Election Assistance Commission chose Ohio for its first hearing site because of the large number of provisional ballots cast in November – more than 153-thousand of them.
