Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Hatchet-wielding man shot to death by trooper after bizarre series of hit-skip crashes on I-71.
By Karen Kasler - March 16, 2005
A hatchet-wielding man who investigators say rammed several cars and threatened a trooper was shot to death on I-71 north of Columbus this morning. 9-1-1 calls came in from Morrow and Delaware Counties about a driver ramming cars, including a cruiser driven by a Ravenna trooper coming to Columbus for training. Lt. Rick Zwayer with the highway patrol says Sgt. Christopher Heverly of the Ravenna post and Trooper Anh Nguyen of the Delaware post approached 34-year-old Ebrahiem Williams of South Euclid after he pulled his truck off the freeway. Nguyen fired five shots at Williams, who was dead at the scene. I-71 Southbound was closed for more than three hours while troopers investigated the incident.
