Sportsmen and women descended on the Statehouse Tuesday, hoping to persuade lawmakers to protect the Ohio Wildlife Fund, which pays for conservation programs and supports efforts to increase bird and fish populations in Ohio. Jude Fleshman of Franklin County says the governor’s budget could allow more than 3 million dollars of that fund to be used for other budget-balancing.
Tom Bower is a hunter from Belmont County – he talked with Ohio Public Radio’s Karen Kasler.
Delma Jackson from Sunbury in Delaware County was among those in safety orange hats, ready to lobby lawmakers...
The group was successful. House lawmakers overwhelmingly approved an amendment to the budget which limited the Department of Natural Resources’ power to move money from that fund to cover administrative costs. |
