Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Two long serving members of Congress react to Bush's comments on ethics.
By Karen Kasler - January 31, 2006
Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH 18th) has been at the center of the scandal involving lobbyists in Washington. U.S. Sen. Mike Dewine (R-OH) says Bush was right in his comments on strengthening ethical standards.

Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH 13th) of Lorain hopes to run against Dewine in the fall, if he’s successful against Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett in the Democratic primary. Brown says corruption in Congress is reflected in higher prices for all Americans.

Bush also spoke out about breaking America’s dependence on foreign oil. Dewine says he was pleased to hear Bush talk about developing alternative forms of energy. But Brown says he feels high energy prices are related to corruption in Congress, so working on ethics legislation is a first step.
