Insurance premiums reversing a trend and falling off in Ohio.
By Bill Cohen - February 23, 2006
There’s some good news for Ohioans on the insurance front. Insurance premiums for homeowners last year rose less than 1%, and auto insurance premiums actually went down 1.6 %. A few years ago, auto insurance bills were going up by about 4%, and homeowner premiums were soaring by 10% to 18%. Why have insurance expenses calmed down so much? That’s the question that statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen posed to Ohio’s top insurance regulator, Ann Womer Benjamin, director of the state insurance Department. The agency says it oversees nearly 1,700 companies, and more than 204,000 insurance agents.
