This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. A group that challenged the results of the 2004 election in Ohio is asking the state’s ethics commission to investigate Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. Cliff Arnebeck with the Ohio Honest Elections Campaign is telling the ethics panel that Blackwell’s ownership of stock in a company that’s providing voting machines for Ohio sets off red flags for wrongdoing.
Arnebeck says he’s also asking the ethics panel to look into how Blackwell’s investments grew so quickly while he was secretary of state. Blackwell is one of the republicans running for Governor this May. There’s no word on whether the ethics commission will look into the complaints filed by Arnebeck’s group. Phone messages left for comment with Blackwell’s campaign were not returned. |
