Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

C-SPAN starts "Road to the White House" from the Ohio Statehouse.
By Karen Kasler - January 15, 2007
More than 20 names have surfaced as possible candidates for president in 2008 - including former first lady and Senator Hillary Clinton, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York governor George Pataki, Illinois Senator Barack Obama and Ohio congressman Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland. So even though the 2008 vote is nearly two years away, the cable network C-SPAN is starting its coverage of the candidates and campaigns at the Statehouse in Columbus on Wednesday, with the launch of the network's "Road to the White House" bus. C-SPAN's Heath Neiderer says the bus was being rehabbed south of Columbus, which made Ohio a natural place to start. And it may seem early, but Neiderer says the bus needs to get moving so voters can get to know the candidates.

The "Road to the White House" bus was rebuilt in a shop just south of Columbus. When it leaves Ohio on Friday, it rolls on to another critical state - Iowa, a year before the important caucuses there.
