Governor says talks with "green" coal companies could bring big projects to Ohio.
By Jo Ingles - February 22, 2007
Ohio Governor Ted Strickland is optimistic that the Buckeye State could kill two birds with one stone by gaining a new company that converts coal into fuel. Strickland says three different companies are looking at a handful of locations in Ohio where they can build a facility. Strickland says such a facility could cost up to $4 billion, and would employ up to 2000 construction workers for two years and then provide 300 permanent jobs thereafter. The governor says southern Ohio would be a good area for such a facility.

Strickland says the companies are using research gathered in the failed attempt to land the super gen project. The governor says the companies need financial backing from the feds. And Strickland says he plans to work to help the companies secure that funding.
