Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Fund that helps low-income people pay for heat is running low on money too.
By Bill Cohen - December 17, 2007
A special government program that helps low-income and elderly Ohioans keep their winter heat going is quickly being depleted this year because of higher fuel costs and more demand. The Home Energy Assistance Program - HEAP for short - has its own emergency program, and coordinator Nick Sunday says the money in it is going fast. He talked with Ohio Public Radio's Bill Cohen.

Sunday says that Ohioans who heat their houses with fuel oil or propane are the most at risk for running out of fuel to stay warm. The HEAP program is funded with federal money.
