Democrat Barack Obama plans expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups. Obama unveiled his approach to getting religious charities more involved in government anti-poverty programs Tuesday.
Obama spoke at Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville. Obama says the challenges facing today are simply too big for government to solve alone. He said he still believes deeply in the separation of church and state and that his plan will not violate that separation as long as it keeps with a few simple principles.
Obama's announcement is part of a series of events leading up to Friday's Fourth of July holiday that are focused on American values. |
