Many Ohioans have spent part of the day cleaning up debris from downed trees as a result of Sunday afternoon's wind storms. Mitch Wilson with the Ohio Insurance Institute says homeowners insurance might cover the cost of some tree removal.
Wilson says homeowners policies generally will not cover tree removal if the trees did not cause damage to the structure or property that is insured. He warns Ohioans to check to make sure the people they hire to remove trees are reputable and bonded. Wilson says Ohioans should never sign a blank contract for tree removal and should never pay for the work until it has been completed. |
