By Karen Kasler - February 18, 2009
Gov. Ted Strickland and US Sen. Sherrod Brown are cheering the federal stimulus package. The Democrats appeared together before a roundtable discussion on health care policy in Columbus. Strickland says Ohio will get $8.2 billion from the package signed yesterday, which he called the right investment at the right time to jumpstart the economy.

Some Republican lawmakers had raised concerns, and a bill has been proposed in the Ohio Senate to spell out guidelines for spending the money. The governor says his office is in talks with those lawmakers on that issue.

Strickland also praised Brown, who was flown back from his mother's wake to cast the final vote for the package in the Senate.
