This week on "The State of Ohio": The governor goes against the parole board on its recommendation for a killer scheduled to die later this month. An outspoken and outrageous former congressman wins another battle, to get a chance at a huge victory this fall. And it's Labor Day weekend - the traditional start to the campaign season. But of course the campaigns on this fall's ballot have been moving along for months. We start a series of conversations with the candidates with one of the two major party contenders for US Senator. A national transportation summit will be held next week, where leaders of the federal agency that regulates commercial vehicles will take up the issue of driving while texting. A similar event was held in Ohio today, with safety officials, phone and insurance executives, and victims of cell phone related crashes on hand to talk about distracted driving. Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles has more on the story. |
