When Ohio lawmakers travel to and from Columbus for legislative sessions, their mileage is reimbursed. But one state lawmaker thinks it's time to change the way those reimbursements are handled. Rep. Jennifer Garrison says some members of the legislature have homes in both their legal residence and Columbus. So when those lawmakers come to session from their Columbus home, Garrison says the rule should make clear they are not given mileage reimbursement from their legal residence.
Garrison says legislators are currently paid about $.45 a mile but she says that amount fluctuates when gas prices changed significantly. |
