Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Federal stimulus dollars could be on the way to those in the market for new appliances.
By Bill Cohen - March 25, 2010
Buy an energy-saving home appliance and get a hefty rebate check. That's the deal being offered to Ohioans, starting at 8am Friday. That's when a special website will activate, allowing people to reserve their rebate before they go shopping. The head of the Ohio program Nadine Howard talks about the kinds of appliances and the rebate amounts.

Any brand-name appliance is eligible for a rebate, Howard says, as long as it's an energy efficient appliance that's labeled "energy star." She suggests customers first reserve their rebate at www.ohioappliancerebate.com. A reservation is important, Howard says, because, once about 90,000 rebates are accounted for, the Ohio rebate program will end. The money comes from the federal stimulus program.
