This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Some Midwesterners concerned that urban sprawl is eating up too much farmland
recently took a bus trip to the east coast. States like Maryland, New Jersey,
and Pennsylvania have been dealing with the problem of too many people and not
enough land for decades. The bus looked at different ways these states have found
to preserve open spaces while still allowing development. In the second part or
our series about the Farmland Preservation Tour, Julie Grant of WKSU looks at
one program that doesn't cost taxpayer money. |
